The Taccia: Table Lamp, designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962, is a table lamp featuring a painted aluminium reflector, with a gloss white exterior and a matte white interior, designed to reflect light upward and outward. The transparent blown glass diffuser, slightly curved and resting freely on the body, can be tilted to direct the light as needed. This combination enables the lamp to produce a soft, reflected glow while remaining adaptable to various positions.
The base, made from nickel-plated ABS and polycarbonate, is available in a range of finishes, offering a subtle contrast to the glass and aluminium components above. An electric cable measuring 190 cm in length features an inline dimmer switch, allowing for light adjustment from 10% to full brightness and simple on/off control. The Taccia: Table Lamp is powered via a plug-in adapter with interchangeable plugs to suit various socket types. Taccia reflects a careful exploration of balance, proportion and indirect light, characteristic of the Castiglioni brothers’ approach to design.
