Sacred Trees: Yarani Candle

Description

A forest preserved through tradition and renewed through care, Sacred Trees: Yarani Candle serves as both inspiration and namesake for this candle. Located near Abidjan, the Yarani forest is a protected area where 20,000 baobab trees have been planted through the support of the Cœur Vert foundation. This project was made possible in part by proceeds from the Sacred Trees collection, to which this candle belongs.

The glass is wrapped in a layered pattern of green and blue baobabs—an original motif created in collaboration with Uniwax, the Ivorian company known for its expertise in African wax textiles. Printed with natural pigments, the artwork of Sacred Trees: Yarani Candle is applied using a specialised sublimation technique developed in Italy. The result is both vivid and translucent, with colours that shift gently in the glow of the flame.

The fragrance opens with a crisp note of verbena, offering an immediate sense of freshness. This is followed by lavender buds, adding an aromatic softness, while the base of dry cedar lends a quiet structure. Together, these notes form a clean, woody citrus scent that suggests long days outdoors and sun-warmed air.

Sacred Trees – Cœur Vert Foundation

Baobab trees are often considered sacred, believed to hold the souls of ancestors within their roots. Each Sacred Trees candle or diffuser purchased supports the replanting of these iconic trees, fostering a connection to African heritage and legends.

The Cœur Vert Foundation is committed to environmental conservation, with its primary mission focused on reforestation as part of the Great Green Wall of Africa initiative. Supported by the Ivorian government and accredited by ICEED, which is recognised by the United Nations, the foundation undertakes reforestation activities every summer.

Funds raised enable the planting of Baobab trees and support community projects, such as the establishment of a vegetable garden in the village of Massasso, named The Baobab Collection Garden. This initiative provides opportunities for women in rural areas, promoting empowerment and enhancing their social status.
