Sacred Trees: Massasso Candle

Description

Lilac and brown tones form a dense forest of baobabs on the surface of Sacred Trees: Massasso Candle, inspired by the visual language of African wax textiles. Created in collaboration with Uniwax in Abidjan and printed using natural pigments, the design is carefully applied to the glass through an Italian sublimation process. Once fused, the pattern becomes part of the glass itself, allowing the flame to reveal its layered detail and subtle transparency gradually.

The Sacred Trees: Massasso Candle scent opens with a green fig note—lush and leafy with a soft, milky edge. This is paired with a base of sandalwood, which brings a smooth, dry warmth to balance the freshness. Hints of hazelnut leaf round out the blend, offering a quiet richness that unfolds slowly as the candle burns.

Named after the commune of Massasso in Ivory Coast’s Woroba region, this candle is closely tied to the landscape. It also marks the location of Baobab Collection’s first vegetable garden initiative, “Le Jardin de Baobab Collection,” where nature and community come together—reflected here in both form and fragrance.

Sacred Trees – Cœur Vert Foundation

Baobab trees are often considered sacred, believed to hold the souls of ancestors within their roots. Each Sacred Trees candle or diffuser purchased supports the replanting of these iconic trees, fostering a connection to African heritage and legends.

The Cœur Vert Foundation is committed to environmental conservation, with its primary mission focused on reforestation as part of the Great Green Wall of Africa initiative. Supported by the Ivorian government and accredited by ICEED, which is recognised by the United Nations, the foundation undertakes reforestation activities every summer.

Funds raised enable the planting of Baobab trees and support community projects, such as the establishment of a vegetable garden in the village of Massasso, named The Baobab Collection Garden. This initiative provides opportunities for women in rural areas, promoting empowerment and enhancing their social status.
