Description
A quiet elegance lies in the simplicity of the Penguin Collection jugs. Crafted without handles, both the Medium and High Jugs reveal the fluidity of hand-made glass, shaped and refined through a careful flame-working process. The clarity of the glass allows the form itself to take centre stage, reflecting light in a subtle, natural way.
Designed by Mist-O, the collection is a collaboration between Noa Ikeuchi, whose Japanese sensibility brings thoughtful restraint, and Tommaso Nani, whose Italian approach balances warmth and precision. Their shared philosophy focuses on the encounter of different ideas and meanings, creating objects that are both functional and expressive through simplicity and rational design.
Each jug is made to be practical yet refined, suitable for everyday use, and dishwasher safe at low temperatures—ideally up to 40°C—to preserve the integrity of the glass. The Penguin jugs embody a contemporary aesthetic while celebrating the craftsmanship and care behind each piece.
Dimensions:
Medium Jug: Ø 8 x 19.5 cm
High Jug: Ø 8 x 24.5 cm
Ichendorf Milano
The story of Ichendorf began in the early 20th century in the town of Quadrath-Ichendorf, near Cologne. In these early years, master-glaziers worked with materials such as silica to craft intricate objects that reflected the refined taste of the time. These pieces, adorned with elaborate ornamentation, were a hallmark of Ichendorf’s collections until the mid-20th century.
A pivotal change came in the 1950s, when the focus shifted towards simplicity, favouring clean lines and the purity of materials. This departure from ornate decoration ushered in a new era, defined by modern, accessible designs.
In 1990, the Ichendorf style centre was established in Milan, becoming a hub for artistic collaboration. Here, artists and designers work closely with the very essence of the material, blending tradition with innovation to create poetic forms. This meticulous collaboration honours the expertise of master-glazers while embracing modern creativity, ensuring Ichendorf’s objects stand the test of time.
Ichendorf’s materials range from stoneware, introduced in 2019, to traditional glass, crystal, and borosilicate. Each piece reflects the ongoing dialogue between tradition and innovation, always with the pursuit of beauty at its core. Today, Ichendorf collections bring elegance, delicacy, and brilliance into homes, seamlessly connecting the past with the present.
