The Doo-Wop pendant light, designed in collaboration with the Danish Navy in the 1950s and reintroduced in 2012, combines a white inner reflector and a hand-spun outer shade to produce soft, directional and diffused light.

The Doo-Wop: Pendant Light, originally introduced in the 1950s, was developed in close collaboration between the Navy Buildings Department and Louis Poulsen. Known at the time as the Navy Pendant, it was used extensively across naval buildings, including offices and canteens, due to its practical light distribution and versatility. The design reflects the visual language of the 1950s New Look era, yet maintains a sense of timelessness that contributed to its enduring presence.
The pendant features a white lacquered inner conical reflector, which directs a soft, downward light. An outer reflector, serving as the main shade, supports both upward and downward light diffusion, creating a balanced, ambient effect. The opening at the top of the inner reflector allows light to softly illuminate the inside of the main shade, adding depth and dimension to the overall lighting effect.
Reintroduced in 2012 under the name Doo-Wop, the Doo-Wop: Pendant Light returned in new colour variations and a brass version, followed by copper and stainless steel editions in 2017. The production process has remained faithful to the original, with each shade hand-spun and finished with a rolled edge that enhances the visual form. The brass version, spun from a solid plate and polished, continues to demand a high level of craftsmanship.
