The Casting C 100, designed by Vincent Van Duysen in 2016 for Flos, is an outdoor light finished in deep brown. This particular model is non-dimmable and built with durable materials to ensure long-lasting performance. The body of the light is made from extruded aluminium, while the base and diffuser are constructed from die-cast aluminium EN AB-47100, which has a low copper content.
The Casting C 100 undergoes a high-resistance coating process, beginning with a sandblasting treatment to create a porous surface that facilitates better paint adhesion. This is followed by the application of a double layer of epoxy powders, in line with the QUALICOAT standard, providing both chemical and mechanical resistance, as well as UV and atmospheric protection. The final layer of polyester powder provides added durability. The painted surfaces are then treated with alkaline and acidic washes before being rinsed with deionised water and subjected to a chemical conversion treatment to prevent oxidation.
A micro-textured glass diffuser is glued to the heat sink, ensuring a watertight seal and providing uniform light distribution. The luminaire comes with a segment of neoprene cable and includes an integrated 110/240V power supply. It is recommended for installation on a cement plinth or flat surface.
