The Alfred trolley was judged by the authoritative English magazine as “Best meals on wheels”, demonstrating the diligence and seriousness with which Giorgetti entered the kitchen area.
The panel of judges composed of prominent people in the design and art world – among which Paola Antonelli, director of the design section of MoMa of New York and curator of the XXII Milan Triennale, the architect Bjarke Ingels, the designer Philippe Malouin and the Korean artist Do Ho Suh – nominated Alfred as “Best meals on wheels”.
The Alfred trolley is a moving capsule that is self-sufficient and turns into a functional element for the management of the kitchen. It is realised in walnut canaletto, with a marble top and a series of drawers that, rotating on two pivots, remind the charming movement of a fan. Once opened, each compartment is used for a different function, from the cutting board rack to the knife one, in order to support all the activities of the chef.
Alfred originates from a deep reflection on the living world: the concept of Giorgetti Research Centre is the result of an accurate research on the gestures and the habits that characterise the contemporary fluidity. This ready-to-use piece of furniture manages indeed to meet the current needs of conviviality, where the act of preparing meals overlaps the consume of the same, in a spontaneous sharing of roles.
